My Experience

I have been practicing yoga since 2007.  My journey to yoga was sparked by the death of a dear friend.  After 12 + years of taking spinning classes together, Jon was diagnosed with a stage-4 cancer. He found his way to yoga shortly thereafter.  Jon patiently and relentlessly tried to persuade me to try yoga.  At that point in my life, I was into pretty hard-core cardio training participating in not only spinning but also cardio kickboxing, and boot camp classes.  I thought yoga was a “step down” on the fitness ladder.  At Jon’s funeral, I committed to 2 years of yoga classes to honor my friend.  I will be eternally grateful to Jon for getting me to my yoga mat.  I was humbled by how yoga “kicked my butt” for those 2 years.  I was aerobically fit but my core strength was lacking.  Thus began my journey into yoga and to awakening to my true Self.

I received my 230-hour teacher training from the Yoga Center Minneapolis in 2012.  Over the years I have studied with many wonderful teachers including Moya Mathews, Susan Meyer, Betsy Weiner, Jennifer Gray, Monique Maxwell, Coleen Elwood, Tara Cindy Sherman, Doug Swenson, Kevin Gayle, James Bailey, and Anand Mehrotra. I was mid way through my first 230 hour Yoga Study when I found Kundalini Yoga.

Benefits of Yoga

Yoga explores your dimensions, depth, nature, and potential as a human being.  Kundalini Yoga is the supreme technology to awaken your awareness and take you into your original Self.  It is a natural unfolding of your own nature.  As you practice Kundalini you will grow.  Like a snake you will need to shed old skins to be more of who you are.  You will need to examine certain attitudes, behaviors, and emotional habits.  You will gain new perspectives, capacities, and habits that support your expanded awareness.
